• I have a 1983 KZ1100A3. My rotor only has 3 magnets. Yours shows 4 magnets. Why is that?

  Unfortunately, I do not have a good answer to your question. The manufacturer has not supplied any information that would indicate this rotor is an "updated" model. Manufacturers often find flaws in designs and improve them, and it may be that your particular model did not use the same generator rotor, or it may be that Kawasaki modified the design and this represents the updated design. Typically on a generator if magnets are added, a stronger magnetic field can be achieved.
  It could also be that this rotor is designed for a different model and won't work on your bike. Your best bet is to see if you can find a factory parts manual specific to your model to compare our reference number to your particular model. If you don't have one, you may be able to locate a Kawasaki dealership that was in business in the early 80s. They may have the correct parts catalog or microfiche for the '83 KZ models. An OEM Kawasaki parts retailer may possibly have a diagram on line which could specify the part number you need or any superseded part numbers. Once you have the part number specific to your bike, you can compare it with our OEM reference number of 21007-1036. If they are the same, you should be good replacing this part with the one on your bike.

  The fitment information we have from the manufacturer shows this part will fit most all of the KZ1000 models but it does not mention specifically the CRS M2 model. Unless you have a police model (which sometimes has a larger output alternator for radios and lights), I would say this bike probably has the same alternator as other KZ1000s used during the 1981-85 model years.
