Questions & Answers

  • This bulb type (H4) is a change and upgrade from the OEM sealed beam, correct?

Many of the early XS models did have sealed beam headlights. I know Yamaha used them up until the mid to late 1970s on many models. If your bike has a sealed beam, I would consider the H4 bulb an upgrade. The H4 can easily be replaced with a bulb from any auto part store and it's a lot less expensive.
I made a similar replacement in my 1976 Yamaha DT250 and I have had not problems with it.
