Perfect Replacement For 2008 Yamaha 125ttr stock carbs

5
out of 5

By on 3/25/2016

I chose these carbs based on recommendations from others that needed to replace the stock carbs on 125ttr. These were easy to change into the bike, which had the dual throttle cable system, and the choke on the handle bars. The expectations were that the bike would start, warm up, and run better. Compared to what I was dealing with in the stock configuration, this sounded to good to be true. Well these carbs are awesome, and they certainly deliver. No longer do I fight to get the bike started, then wait forever for it to warm up. I am truly shocked at just how well these carbs work. Been riding much more now that I have bikes that start when you want them to. Thanks so much. I would definitely recommend this product.

Questions & Answers

  • I need the complete jetting setup excluding main jet for a vm24 on a ttr 125. How much would that cost?

We offer the carburetor pre-jetted, along with modified for the stock cable here: http://www.nichecycle.com/ncs/mikuni/carburetors/mikuni-vm24-round-slide-24mm-carburetor-84355.html

If you already have the carb, just use the specs in the description to purchase the jetting you need.

  • I have 2 2011 klx110l's with the FMF slip on muffler. I am having trouble getting the bikes jetted properly. Would this carb work on my bikes?

As far as the venturi size (24mm) of this carburetor, its very suitable, but you will need to check physical sizing. You will need to ensure the carburetor will fit into your engine manifold, as well as hook up to your air box. Compare spigot OD on both sides of the TM24, and total depth to the OEM carb. This will give you a very good idea of how much adapting will be needed. Then you will need to modify or replace your OEM throttle cable to function with the aftermarket carb. Once its all mounted up, you will then need to properly jet it to your engine. Its going to be quite a bit of tinkering.

  • Do you carry throttle caps for the VM24? I did a modification on mine and would rather not buy an entire new carburetor.

Yes, we do, but we are very low on stock. You can find it at this link: http://www.nichecycle.com/ncs/mikuni/parts-by-category/carb-body-tops/vm26-44a-top-mixing-chamber-by-mikuni.html

This is only appropriate for the genuine Mikuni VM24. If have a Mikuni clone, it likely will not fit.

  • Are the jets included with the vm24-512 carb or do I need to order those separate? And if separate what all will I need?

Yes, the carburetor includes the jetting that is listed in the description. This however does not mean that you will not need other jetting. These carburetors are for general use, and are not intended for any one application, therefor tuning is likely needed for your particular application.

  • I have a Can-Am 200 Rotax. I believe it has a VM24-502. Do you know if this is a suitable replacement? Can i use the old needle/jets in this carb?

I am fairly certain the VM24-502 is a carburetor MIkuni produced for OE manufacturers like Yamaha, Kawasaki and CanAm/Rotax. These carbs were modified for the specific needs of each vehicle they were placed on. Parts for these carbs were only sold by OEM-certified dealerships.
The genuine MIkuni, aftermarket VM24-512 is a similar style round-slide carb. While almost identical in size, the outside diameter of the spigot and intake bell may vary for the dimensions of your carb (please see the dimensions and specs in the listing linked below). The aftermarket Mikuni carb will not have a port for oil injection. So, if your stock carb has port for an oil injection line, you may need to pre-mix your fuel. You may also find the choke and/or idle as well as fuel air screw may be in a different location than on your carb.
The jetting should be interchangeable, which is good, because the needle jet and jet needle may not be a size currently sold by Mikuni. As far as main and pilot jets, we would have about any size you may need. You should also be able to swap the throttle slide and mixing chamber cap which will enable you to use the original throttle cable and have the correct cutaway size on the slide.
Below is a link to a article on selecting the right aftermarket carbs. This may help you:
    http://www.vintagebikebuilder.com/choosing-aftermarket-carbs.html
I have also included a link to the VM24-512 listing on our website:

  • Hi, I have a 1973 Yamaha CT3 175 Enduro and need an OEM Mikuni VM24SH. It has vent tubes and a 230 main jet, O--6 needle jet, 4J13-2 needle jet, 25 pilot jet and 40 starter jet. Can I buy one through you?

The VM24SH is not longer being manufactured. Mikuni does make a 24mm carburetor (VM24-512), but it is not flange mounted. Its a spigot mounted carburetor, so a flange adapter will need to be sourced for fitment. Most of the jetting from your provided specs are available for the VM24-512, except for the needle jet. The VM24-512 is very limited to the needle jets available. My suggestion is to fully exhaust your options of rebuilding your VM24SH, or finding a used one before attempting a retro fit of another Mikuni.

  • Wil this fit a 2019 ttr125? last piece of my puzzle. FMF Pwercore4, upgraded black box/ bbr intake mod/regeared.... just need a swapable carb

Yes, that's a good carb for the TTR125. Its what we use to setup them up specifically for the TTR125. If you go with the base carb, instead of our TTR version, you will need to setup the jetting. In either case, you will need to modify your throttle cable, or swap out the entire throttle, and cable assembly from the earlier year models, that did not use a push/pull setup. Here is a link to our TTR carb:

  • I have a 1999 Kawasaki bayou. Will this carburetor work for that application?

This is not a direct replacement carb for that model. Quite a few carburetors can be made to work, but it would take significant amount of effort in most cases.

  • I have a stock ttr125, I want to do the vm24-512 carb replacement on it. What size jetting do you recommend? I believe the stock 40/220 is too rich, but I am fairly new to jetting. Any advise would be helpful. thanks

You will probably end up with a 140-150 main jet, and a 30-40 pilot. The needle clip should be moved upward a notch.
