I have a 1984 Ski-doo SS25 with a water cooled 462 Rotax engine. the original carb is a Mikuni VM34-311 carb.
What is the difference between a VM34-389 and a VM34-311. Do I need to make any changes to the 389 cab to work with my engine?I don't know for sure, but the -311 suffix was likely assigned to the carburetor by Ski-Doo. As far as I can tell, it was not publicly offered. As far as interchangeability, it will likely work fine but you will need to mimic the jetting from your factory carb. Unless you can find somewhere or someone that has a reference to the OEM carb specs, your best bet is to take it apart and record the sizes of each jet.
