Description

Details

For the best throttle response, and low to mid range power, you cannot go wrong with our 28mm kits.  There is a slight trade off in top end power when compared to our 30mm kit.  Our 30mm has sold very well all over the world, but we felt that some customers would benefit from a kit that was more aimed towards usable low to mid range power, as opposed to the top end potential that the 30mm offers.

Brand new carburetor kit consisting of genuine Mikuni 28mm round slide carburetors, pre-jetted with proven specs utilizing genuine Mikuni components.

  • Pre-jetted carbs for stock to mildly modified engines - Great for street use
  • Billet spigot adapters for installation using the stock intake manifolds!
  • 1-2 cable. Cable must be sized, and ends soldered
  • High quality air filters - Made in the USA
  • Additional jetting included.  3 Sizes of mains, and 2 sizes of pilots

We don't just swap out the main and pilots.  Slide, needle jet, needle, main, and pilots have all been chosen for the best possible combination on the majority of bikes.  Because each bike is different, and because these are shipped all over the world, we cannot guarantee out of the box compatibility.  Climate, altitude, and engine setup all play into the fuel requirements that must be met.  We include the additional mains and pilots for such occasions.

Glad I went with the 28mm kit!! 5 Stars

A few friends of mine have the 30mm kit from Niche Cycle on their bikes, and it made me realize a Mikuni kit is a must for these bikes. The stock carbs are garbage, and I was tired of messing with them. I did not realize a 28mm kit was available until I went to order the 30mm setup. It struck me by surprise that a smaller carb was offered, and I really didn't understand why. I have to say that the 28s are much better for my application. My bike is pretty much stock, as are my friends running the Miks, but I feel that the smaller carb setup is better for normal street use. I have better low end power, and throttle response, which is all that really matters to me where I live.

If your engine is pretty much stock, with the exception of maybe an exhaust system, I highly recommend the 28mm carbs. This is coming from someone that has had the opportunity to see both work side by side. I think the 30s will open up potential for the bike if further mods are being done to the engine, but if you plan to keep it simple, go with the 28s. Better low end, better throttle response, and plenty of power up top.

Thanks guys! I will be spreading the word about your company and your products.

Questions & Answers

  • My CL350 has Wiseco over bore pistons with Mac 2 into 2 headers and shorty slash cut mufflers. I also have Probe Engineering ignition and Dyna coils with a stock cam. I'm deciding between the VM28 and the VM30 Mikunis. Mostly this bike will be used for street riding and highway commuting of about 10 miles. I would like the best drive ability without losing to much if anything from the stock Keihins. I'm leaning towards the 28mm Mikunis for better low and mid-range. I would also like to make sure the pod filters with this kit will fit under the stock side covers.

Without high performance cams, I'd suggest you stick with the 28mm carbs. As far as side covers go, we know that the pod filters can be used with side covers on the CB350 but I don't know about the CL. With the CB, the filters make slight contact with the side covers and you can either dent the filter slightly or trim the inside edge of the cover to eliminate contact. If you're concerned with keeping the covers, you could fabricate an air boot adapter that would mate the VM carbs to the original air box.
