VM series carburetors offer a large selection of bore sizes for optimal fuel mixture and flow to match most engine modifications. A wide range of tuning components are available to allow precise fuel mixture metering in almost any application, at any throttle setting and under any riding condition.

Note: The center-to-center spacing for the bolt holes on the engine side flange mount is 49mm.

Questions & Answers

  • Do you carry jets for the mikuni VM 22-133. The same carb you sell?

Absolutely! We have one of the largest (if not the largest) stockpiles of Mikuni jets in the country!

Answer by: rick c (Admin) on Mar 27, 2017 10:10:00 AM

The mains and pilot jets can be found as related products on the carburetor page, but I have also attached the links below. Other than mains, and pilots, are there other tuning components you are looking for?

  • Hello, I recently purchased a Genuine Mikuni VM22 and mounted to my sons SSR 110cc pitbike. I am having an issue with the main jet marked 257 N-8, it is in the center of the carb when torn down but like another person commented looks nothing like the jets you sell, it has a small rubber o-ring at the top with a small removal unmarked jet. The current issue that I am having is when the carb is ok Choke, it runs decent with a slight bog when blipping the throttle but when I turn the choke off, the engine immediately starts to rev super high? I also noticed there is a plug bolt on the bottom of the carb that also seems to have a jet inside the bolt? Not even sure what that is.... I did however upgrade my slow jet from a 30, to a 32.5 which seems to help a little, also have the next 3 sizes higher but the main jet is what seems to be my main problem.

Hello. The N8 jet that you describe is the needle jet. The main jet is the jet you found in the bowl plug, which should be the VM4/042 series Hex style.

  • Do you carry an assortment of throttle slides and needles for the vm22?

Only a 2.0 (stock size) slide is available for the VM22. Any 4 series needle (part number begins with 4) should work in that carb

  • I have a VM 22 type with the adjustable main jet setup on the exterior of the float bowl. But it appears like another main jet, where one would typically be on a Mikuni, next to the pilot. What happens with this jet? What size should it be, if the adjustable jet is being used?

The part you are identifying next to the pilot is an extension for the main jet. The O-ring seal fits tight against the extended main jet holder located in the float bowl. This part is not meant to be exchanged for a larger or smaller size as you would with a jet. In other words, if you changed the main jet size, this part would remain the same.

  • What is the spacing for the bolt holes so I can find a adapter?

The center-to-center spacing for the bolt holes on the engine side flange mount is 49mm.

  • I ordered this carburetor and it comes with a very strange main jet which almost doesn't look like a jet at all. I bought a few hex head up-sized jets and when I took the bowl off I noticed something was totally wrong. There's no hex headed jet currently in it, but instead this weird brass fitting with a very large hole (way larger than the 100 jet) with this round lip and rubber o-ring around it. It's unlike anything I've ever seen of the VM series carbs. Was I sent the wrong carb? I have a nasty mid-range bog down unless covering half of the intake with my hand. I've tried different needle positions and multiple different pilots but seems I'm not getting enough fuel as it kicks over to the main circuit.

The VM22 is not like the larger Mikuni carbs. The float bowl does not need to be removed to swap out the main jet. Just take the drain plug out from the side of the float bowl to access it. The part that you are referring to is the connector of the main jet tunnel, to the main carb body.

  • Will this fit a predator 212 motor? And what jets do i use?

With very few exceptions, Mikuni does not provide a fitment chart as to what carbs will any particular vehicle. There are also no factory jetting charts available. The only way we would know if a carb fits and the jetting required, is if we install a carb on a bike to build a carburetor kit.
If there is not kit available, installing an aftermarket carb on your vehicle will require a bit of research and work.To make things easier, I have written and article about swapping original equipment (OE) carbs with aftermarket carbs. I have provided a link below:
    http://www.vintagebikebuilder.com/choosing-aftermarket-carbs.html
If you decide to go the aftermarket route, then you'll also need this tuning and jetting guide:

  • Why does the vm22-133 carb come with a (4/042) 100 main when a vm20 comes with a 180 main and vm24 has a 210?

Most of the carburetors that Mikuni is offering to the public, were first developed and setup for specific OEM applications. The intended initial use is what determined how these carbs come setup from the factory. For instance, the VM24-512 is an OEM carburetor for Cobra, small displacement, high performance 2-stroke dirt bikes. They run pre-mix fuel. Because the pre-mix contains oil, that displaces the fuel, the jets need to be larger than a typical application. In the end, it doesn't really matter too much how it comes setup, because in almost any case, the end user, or tuner, will need to modify its setting to work properly on what it will be used with.

  • I put this carb on my 125cc Grom Clone and now my bike stalls when I push the bike, like gas or oil is pooling somewhere and spilling into the spark plug?
Stock jetting, AF screw 2 turn out

The carburetor will need to be jetted to the engine. There is some pretty good information in the following article on how to get started, and what each jet circuit represents.

Yes, the VM22-133 will work on a 4-stroke engine. We can accept PayPal and do ship to Saudi Arabia, but we prefer credit card transactions with our website. Normally PayPal is accepted with our eBay account. I have attached a link below for eBay:

  • I'm looking for a new mikuni carb for my 1971 Yamaha AT 1 125
    It's a VM24SH ,,,bolt on carb with #150 main jet and # 30 pilot.
Do you have anything that matches that?

Nothing that we have is going to match that. Only the VM20 and the VM22 are flange mounted. For any other carb, you would need to use a flange adapter. Which one will depend on the center to center bolt spacing on your head, where the carb attaches. If you give me that measurement, I can check to see if we have on that will work with your bike, and the VM24. Aside from that, you would need to jet the VM24 to the bike, which could require more changes than just the main and pilot. Its possible that aside from the main and pilot jet, that you would also need to adjust the needle jet, needle, and possibly the air jet. Unfortunately, we do not have full jetting info for that bike.
