NEW CAP DESIGN!  This is the same pre-jetted carburetor that we have sold all over the world but now with a CNC machined cap.  We have designed this cap specifically for the TTR125.  Why?  Because this design will allow the use of the factory carb top seal, and cable retaining clip, keeping water and debris from entering the carburetor through the cable provision.

Pre-jettted carburetor for the Yamaha TTR125. Intended for stock, or mildly modified engines.  This will eliminate your remote choke.  The carburetor will need to be choked directly at the carb, or modified to accept the remote choke cable setup.  We have altered the carburetor cap to accept the factory throttle cable for quick and easy installation.  This carburetor directly replaces the factory unit, and hooks directly into the stock manifold and air filter boot.

The chart above shows the jetting specifications that we pre-install into the carb.

  • Genuine Mikuni Pre-Jetted carburetor
  • Pre-Jetted for the TTR125 using genuine Mikuni jetting
  • Includes tuning jets for future performance modifications.
  • Modified carb top for stock throttle cable usage - Must use stock TTR125 carb top elbow

Note: If you are running a big bore kit with bolt-ons, see our 26mm pre-jetted TTR125 carb setup.  For later models with a push and a pull cable assembly, only the pull cable will be utilized.

For 2008 TTR-125LE. Started right up first time no choke, 800' above sea level. Runs great as delivered. However may be a little too snappy right off idle (comes on right now) for teaching beginners. It's a little shorter than the stock carb and the outlet diameter just a tad smaller so had to use a worm type hose clamp on that side to get it tight enough and keep it from sliding out of the rubber intake duct. Put washers behind spark arrestor and drilled 1" hole in top of air-box. Will experiment with air screw and needle settings etc. to smooth it out a bit for beginners.

Installed on 2005 TTR125LE. Pre-jetted very rich, fouled two plugs with black soot in no time. Once with stock setting and once with smallest jets provided. Going to have to order smaller jets and another plug... Otherwise the Mikuni carb is genuine high quality and fits right up on the TTR.

If you have a TTR with the original carb, do yourself a favor and put this one on. Essentially plug and play. Get some extra fuel line as the old line will be too short to reuse.

After installing this carb, the bike started right up and ran strong. The second time it took several kicks and although it ran, there was a couple of times when gas was coming out the overflow tube. I will take it apart and see if there is any debris on the float valve. Is there a method/spec for the float level on this carb. Thanks.

Fits Perfect, Jetting is Spot On for TTR-125LE

Purchased this for a 2006 TTR-125LE as a replacement for a replacement. The factory carb had a seized choke slider, so I initially purchased a "mikuni" from a popular auction site. Turns out that carb was a Chinese knock off and you can't re-jet it. Seeing the 2 side by side, the difference in quality is clear, this is a far better carb. The installation process took all of 15 minutes, most of which was keeping the spring compressed while installing the cable. Once that was done, I tightened down the 2 clamps, and connected the fuel line. Starting was easy, it fired up (with the choke on) in seconds. Note, the choke is on the side of the carb, and you won't be able to use the existing choke knob up near the handlebars. The jetting feels perfect (1,200 feet elevation), no issues wide open throttle. Still need to adjust the idle, but otherwise I am very pleased with my purchase. Also, the carb came with a few extra jets.

Best purchase ever! I've constantly struggled with the original carb on my TTR-125L, with hard-starting, long warm up times, etc. It seems I had to pull the bowl off every time I wanted to use the bike and soak it in carb cleaner, as well as use starter fluid.

Well this carb is a dream. I put it in, turned on the gas, and the bike started up right away. Always with one gentle kick. Moreover, the idle control is something you can turn with your fingers, you don't even need a screwdriver.

The carb was a drop in replacement. I did struggle a bit to figure out how to compress the spring when installing the throttle cable, and I ended up using a couple plastic cables ties to hold the spring compressed, as I didn't have an extra pair of hands. I also had to use a razor blade and remove a bit of rubber/plastic that was sticking out of the input tube, to get it to seat fully against the carb. All in all, it was a pretty easy swap.

I only wished I did this years ago!

This was the best mod I could have done on my wife’s 2005 TTR 125. I spent weeks trying to solve the hard starting and difficult warm up issues on her bike. Changing jets and cleaning the carb several times. Installed this carb in 15 min and it fired right up. Sounds mean and rides awesome now. 100% worth every penny spent to get rid of the frustration of the crappy stock carb.

mixture/jetting issues

I'm having trouble with my carburetor. Out of the box I had I had a bog down and was only able to reach reach top end RPM's by turning the mixture screw all the way in and about just a slight quarter of a turn out but still still facing bog downs when quickly twisting the throttle.

I've tried all three pilot and main jets with no luck in clearing up the throttle bog.

My plug is also turning completely black even with the smallest jets and I don't understand.

Questions & Answers

  • I have a lot of mains and pilots for my 2001 kx65 stock vm24 carb, will these also fit in this carb? I'm only asking because my last "Mikuni" new, off of ebay and probably a knock off vm24, didn't fit. Just making sure they are at least the stock thread pitch.

This is a genuine Mikuni carburetor. So long as you have genuine Mikuni jets of the correct series, they will fit. This carburetor requires VM4/042 series main jets, with are hex shaped, and the VM22/210 series pilot jets. To compare what you have, please search our website for those two numbers.

  • I saw a video where someone said they had to increase the hole size at the top to insert the elbow for the throttle cable. Is that necessary, or is the size correct? Thanks.

We modify the cap to accept the stock size cable fitting. This is a simple plug and play setup.

  • I have a 2009 TT-R125. I am looking at upgrading from the factory carb. The bike has no other upgrades currently and has the factory 2 wire throttle cable. What extra parts would I need for throttle to install the Mikuni 24mm you have?

The TTR125 is a great bike and our carb kit provides a good performance boost and a way to replace the aging, stock carb. In order to use this kit, you will either need a new or used throttle assembly (cable and twist throttle control) from a 2007 or earlier TT-R125. These are very common on eBay and not very expensive. Or, you can use an aftermarket throttle with an integrated starter button. We do not sell these, but I have seen them on several off-road motorcycle websites and they also are not too expensive. If you go with the aftermarket throttle, you'll also need to use the stock cable off the 2007 or earlier bike. I have explained his in the first few paragraphs of our installation instructions. Please see the link below:

  • Vm24 carb,do you have the throttle and the cable to go with this carb? Thanks!

If your bike is 2007 or earlier, you can use the stock throttle and cable. If your bike is later than 2007, you'll want to use an aftermarket throttle with starter button. You can find a aftermarket unit with both throttle and starter button or just by the starter button and use one of our aftermarket throttle assemblies. We don't carry the aftermarket starter button and throttle assembly, but you can find them on the internet. You could also get a used 2007 or earlier assembly on eBay. They are usually pretty inexpensive. We do have cables that work with MIkuni carbs and universal throttles. All you would need to do is search our website for "Mikuni throttle cable."
I have attached a link to assembly instructions for this kit. This will provide a more detailed answer to your question.I have it on my personal website until we make an update to our Niche website:

  • does this carb fit a 2017?

At this time (1/17/2018) we are not sure. The jetting is likely fine, but the carburetor dimensions, and cable configuration may have changed from the earlier models. If you can message us with the OD of each side of the factory carburetor, along with the overall depth of the carb, we can determine physical fitment. It would also help if you can send us a photo of the throttle cable ends. Sorry we cannot be of better assistance.

  • How come the carb for the TTR125 has a main jet that is 150 and a pilot jet that is 40. isn't the stock main jet around 105. Why such a big difference?
Will it increase power a lot and does it come with the throttle cable cap because i cant find them anywhere for sale*(mine is broken).

    http://www.nichecycle.com/ncs/mikuni/carburetors/mikuni-vm24-round-slide-24mm-carburetor-89405.html

Different carbs, and different series of jets cannot always be directly compared to one another. The jetting specifications that we have utilized seem to be spot on for the majority of our customers. We have received very good feedback. There should be a noticeable difference in power, along with other benefits such as easy of starting. If you are referring to the portion of the cable that slid into the stock carb and threads into the metal junction of the cable, it is not included. You will need to find one into order to use the stock cable with our carburetor.

  • Milkuni vm24 carb for a 2005 ttr 125. I live in Colorado between 6,000 and 8,000 feet elevation. Does this come with jets for this?
    Thanks

The kit does come with some additional jetting, but chances are at 6-8k, you might need leaner jetting than what is provided. However, in higher altitudes, the air is often colder. Colder air is also denser, which requires more fuel. Usually this is more applicable in winter than summer. So getting the proper jetting requires a little experimentation. If I were purchasing this kit, I would get the next two smaller steps of pilot jet as well as the next two steps of main jets. There is a lot of information on line about the TTR, you might find someone with the jetting specs.

Answer by: rick c (Admin) on Jun 13, 2017 1:42:00 PM
  • Does this come with extra jetting, and if so what size? I'll be using this in colder weather so might need larger jets.

Thanks for your inquiry. In addition to the 150 main and the 40 pilot that is installed with the carb, this carb also comes with a 140 and 145 main, as well as a 30 and 35 pilot. I would first install the carb with the standard jetting and see how it performs before changing any jetting. If your problem appears to be at idle, try adjusting the fuel/air screw before changing the pilot jet. Typically, cold air is more dense and has more oxygen content. Therefore, you usually need slightly larger jets for colder weather. But sometimes, a tweak of the fuel/air screw can suffice.

Unfortunately, this is information we can't accurately provide because every situation is different and requires custom, on-site tuning.

I highly suggest you take a look at the Mikuni tuning guide:
    http://mikuni.com/pdf/vmmanual.pdf

Another thing that will help you out is this jetting calculator:
    http://www.nichecycle.com/ncs/catalogsearch/result/?o=jetting+caculaotr&q=jetting+calculator

Answer by: rick c (Admin) on Jan 23, 2017 4:39:00 PM
  • So if the stock 2005 TTR125LE carb comes with a 15 pilot jet and 105 main jet. And many people who open up the air box (and do or do not run the FMF exhaust) will switch to a 17.5 pilot and 107.5 or 110 main jet. For better starting, warm up times, performance etc.

For this carb, which jets, would be about the same flow:
    1. as the stock 15/105 jetting?
    2. and the richer 17.5/110 jetting?

We dont have any way to determine how the different series of jets compare in real world flow. The numbers as far as I know, are not directly comparable across different series, and manufactures. Our TTR carbs are provided with pre-installed jetting specific to the TTR125. We also include some extra fine tuning jets in case they are needed due to altitude, and/or performance modifications outside of our standard tune.

  • Does this carb fit my 2002 ttr125? I'm in Texas, does the prejet need to be adjusted?

Yes, it will fit the 2002 TTR125. So far, all of the customer feedback that we have received states that no jetting changes were needed. Although it is not possible for us to determine additional requirements prior to installation, we are pretty confident that it will be a straight forward installation without needing any jetting swap outs.

Answer by: Web Support (Admin) on Dec 16, 2016 2:08:00 PM
  • I ordered one of these to fit to a 2013 model. Can I use just one of the cables and remove the other or do I need to get a 2007 throttle set up? The 2007 throttle parts in the land down under cost as much as the carby from the US.

I have a post 2007, TTR125 throttle in my office connected to one of our carbs. I am not sure of the year of that throttle, and I don't know if Yamaha changed the cable ends in later years. I don't think they did though. If your pull cable has the tiny nipple (that fits the Mikuni slide) and not a barrel, there is a good chance it will work.
I know you can use one side of the 2013 twist throttle - the pull side, with the 2007 or earlier cable. Our cap is designed to work with that particular cable end (and retaining clip). I have also attached a link to an instruction manual for that kit.

  • I have a 2011 TTR 125LE - it has a dual throttle cable - will this work or do I have to get a single cable throttle for it?

I would suggest sourcing a new or used throttle cable (optionally the throttle and cable) from an earlier model. You will need to make sure when you purchase one, that it includes the elbow, that attaches to the carb cap. Here is an example on eBay: https://www.ebay.ie/itm/06-YAMAHA-TTR125-TTR125LE-TTR-125-L-LE-TWIST-THROTTLE-CABLE-F-/192060870283

You might be able to get a way with purchasing just the elbow, and using your existing cable.

  • I just ordered the carb so I haven't tried the carb yet. I live on the Oregon coast at sea level so moderate temps (70-80f at the highest). Do you recommend starting out with the Jets installed? I'm new to the tuning part. The bike is a 2006 TTR125E and bone stock and I dont plan on modding.

Our carbs kits are jetted for stock bikes at sea level, so you should be good with the stock jetting. However, every bike is different and it is possible some tuning may be necessary for optimal performance. If you bike was running well before the carb change, you should be good to go with our jetting.

Answer by: rick c (Admin) on Mar 14, 2018 9:48:00 AM
  • Will this carburetor work at 9,000 ft? I bought my son an 04 ttr125 and it seem slow when throttle on. It gets up to top speed around 50 though just not quickly.

It likely will not work correctly right out of the box. Adjustment to the main jet, and likely the pilot jet will be needed, and may fall outside of the included jetting ranges.

Answer by: Web Support (Admin) on Jul 28, 2022 10:47:00 AM
  • If I have an FMF exhaust and open air box should I leave the jetting or change it?

The jetting required for any give kit varies from bike to bike. Performance modifications to your engine, air box and exhaust modifications will all effect your jetting, but so will the altitude where the bike is ridden. Our TTR125 kits are jetted for stock bikes ridden at sea level to about 3500 feet.
Off hand, I would say with the exhaust and air box mods, if you use the stock jetting you may be running a bit lean, so you may want to try a slightly larger pilot and main jet - possibly a 42.5 pilot and a 155 main. You may also need to drop the clip one stop (to raise the needle) on your jet needle (located below the throttle slide). You will also need to readjust your air/fuel adjustment screw to dial things in properly at idle.
But, with these changes, you will need to run tests to be sure you are not running too lean or too rich. Please take a good look at the Mikuni Tuning and Jetting manual I've linked below:
    http://www.vintagebikebuilder.com/mikuni-tuning-and-jetting-guide.html
This has information on testing, jetting as well as setting up the fuel/air mixture screw.

  • I have a 2008 drz 125 I know would need the 24mm. But my question is will this or the standard vm24 fit my bike. This one seems to have better jetting but will my throttle cable fit?

We would like to help you out, but the DRZ125 is not a bike we have tinkered with. As for physical dimensions, you should start by measuring the stock carburetor intake OD, engine side spigot OD, as well as the overall height and depth. Then compare those measurements to the size specifications we have listed on the carb page. If the carburetor will fit the bike then you will have to figure out the throttle cable, and the jetting. Jetting is likely close to the TTR125 carb we offer. Unfortunately, this is about the extent of the help we can offer at this time, for that bike.

Answer by: Web Support (Admin) on Jan 15, 2018 11:02:00 AM
  • Will this fit a 2004 Yamaha TTR-125? If so is it a direct swap, as in, bolt on and go?

Yes, this carb will bolt right on. We've dialed in the jetting so it is optimal for the stock TTR ridden at sea level to about 3000 feet. So, in most cases this kit will work without changing anything. That being said, some customers may ride at higher altitudes or may have made some performance modifications to their bikes. If that is the case, they may need to adjust the jetting for maximum performance. We provide two smaller jet sizes for both the main and pilot jet. If you need larger jetting, that can be purchased from us and we have a huge selection in stock.

  • I have a 03 TTR125 with the airbox cut open and an aftermarket exhaust, I live at about 500' elevation with temperatures anywhere from 30 - 100 degrees F. Would I possibly need bigger jets to compensate for the airbox mod and exhaust?

We jet them a little on the fat side for light modifications, but we do include some other jetting in case you need to adjust. I have a feeling the carb will be very good straight out of the box. If you were to run into any jetting issues during setup, just let us know and will help you out.

After fighting with the factory carb on this '06 TTR 125 since we bought it, after installation it fired right up on half a crank. Highly recommended!!

Too Rich...

I put this carb in my 06 TTR 125 and the bike fires up first time every time. Its not one of those imitations you can get for $30 and FYI you get what you pay for those fake mikuni. This carb is worth every dollar spent.

**2008 and newer have a push-pull throttle. This one is designed for 07 and below. If your bike is newer, you will need the throttle assembly and cable and elbow. ** Otherwise, a worthwhile mod for the bike.

mixture/jetting issues

I'm having trouble with my carburetor. Out of the box I had I had a bog down and was only able to reach reach top end RPM's by turning the mixture screw all the way in and about just a slight quarter of a turn out but still still facing bog downs when quickly twisting the throttle.

I've tried all three pilot and main jets with no luck in clearing up the throttle bog.

My plug is also turning completely black even with the smallest jets and I don't understand.

Product Question

Product Questions

Question will be displayed after moderation.

I have a lot of mains and pilots for my 2001 kx65 stock vm24 carb, will these also fit in this carb? I'm only asking because my last "Mikuni" new, off of ebay and probably a knock off vm24, didn't fit. Just making sure they are at least the stock thread pitch.
10
I saw a video where someone said they had to increase the hole size at the top to insert the elbow for the throttle cable. Is that necessary, or is the size correct? Thanks.
7
I have a 2009 TT-R125. I am looking at upgrading from the factory carb. The bike has no other upgrades currently and has the factory 2 wire throttle cable. What extra parts would I need for throttle to install the Mikuni 24mm you have?
6
Vm24 carb,do you have the throttle and the cable to go with this carb? Thanks!

Can I order just the top cap that is modified for the ttr 125?

does this carb fit a 2017?
3
How come the carb for the TTR125 has a main jet that is 150 and a pilot jet that is 40. isn't the stock main jet around 105. Why such a big difference?
Will it increase power a lot and does it come with the throttle cable cap because i cant find them anywhere for sale*(mine is broken).

Milkuni vm24 carb for a 2005 ttr 125. I live in Colorado between 6,000 and 8,000 feet elevation. Does this come with jets for this?
Thanks
3
Does this come with extra jetting, and if so what size? I'll be using this in colder weather so might need larger jets.
2
So if the stock 2005 TTR125LE carb comes with a 15 pilot jet and 105 main jet.

1
Is choke on this backward? It seems to be choked when slide is in.

Does this carb fit my 2002 ttr125? I'm in Texas, does the prejet need to be adjusted?
0
I ordered one of these to fit to a 2013 model. Can I use just one of the cables and remove the other or do I need to get a 2007 throttle set up? The 2007 throttle parts in the land down under cost as much as the carby from the US.
0
I have a 2011 TTR 125LE - it has a dual throttle cable - will this work or do I have to get a single cable throttle for it?
-1
Will this fit a 2006 TTR125 LE?
-3
I just ordered the carb so I haven't tried the carb yet. I live on the Oregon coast at sea level so moderate temps (70-80f at the highest). Do you recommend starting out with the Jets installed? I'm new to the tuning part. The bike is a 2006 TTR125E and bone stock and I dont plan on modding.
-3
Will this carburetor work at 9,000 ft? I bought my son an 04 ttr125 and it seem slow when throttle on. It gets up to top speed around 50 though just not quickly.
-3
If I have an FMF exhaust and open air box should I leave the jetting or change it?
-4
I have a 2008 drz 125 I know would need the 24mm. But my question is will this or the standard vm24 fit my bike. This one seems to have better jetting but will my throttle cable fit?
-5
Will this fit a 2004 Yamaha TTR-125? If so is it a direct swap, as in, bolt on and go?

I have a 03 TTR125 with the airbox cut open and an aftermarket exhaust, I live at about 500' elevation with temperatures anywhere from 30 - 100 degrees F. Would I possibly need bigger jets to compensate for the airbox mod and exhaust?
