Air flows faster and smoother through the TM Series venturi due to the flat slide configuration and the jet blocks which help create a smoothbore effect. The high velocity of the air flow means a stronger vacuum at the needle jet, providing more precise metering and better throttle response.

I am writing in to ask if this carb will fit on my 1998 yz 125,I have already bought a carb that came defective and i dont want to spend then money if this wont work on my bike.
Thank YouTypically a TMX35 would be used on something like a YZ125, but in almost any case, tuning will be needed. Aside from tuning, you should compare your OEM carburetor measurements to the measurements we provide on the item page to ensure that it will fit into the factory manifold, and properly hook back up to your airbox. If you are unfamiliar with jetting, and/or do not want to mess with it, it may be better to buy a rebuilt, or properly functioning OEM Yamaha carburetor, specific to your make/model/year.

I want to put this on a 75 Elsinore cr250m. I'm worried that the height of 170mm won't fit the approximate 200 mm gap I have from case to exhaust pipe. Does this 170mm include the idle adjuster on top? Any help would be great. Thanks
I remeasured the TM36-2 this morning and the carb is closer to 7-3/4 inches (196.85mm.) long, so I corrected the listing to read 197mm. This amount includes the adjuster. Unfortunately, I don't think this carb will fit, but the VM36 will.

Is this a 2-stroke or a 4-stroke carburetor?
This TM36 would work equally well in both a 4-stroke or 2-stroke application. Most, if not all motorcycle carburetors work in both 4-stroke and 2-strokes. However, the jetting and sizes for the carburetors would be different in a comparable engine size. Most two strokes use a larger carb with larger jetting than an equally sized, 4-stroke engine.
There are some carbs that designed to work best in a particular application. For instance, the Mikuni TMX35-1 is designed for 2-stroke, 125cc motocross bikes, but with some jetting changes, it could work on a 250 or 500cc 4-stroke too.
